What could one week without screen time do to students you might ask? Notes and paper all over the desk tumbling down to no avail since you still need to finish the history research paper that you chose to procrastinate on. Only an hour left to finish it and give it to the professor time is ticking. You have yet to finish the second paragraph, the books aren’t helping in giving you information just more words to skim through. Only one more minute and maybe you can, at least, turn in two and a half paragraphs but as you look at the clock the assignment is 20 minutes late and your professor has shut the door to late entries. Fast forward to a week your grade has gone down from …show more content…

This technology is our way to actually know our future will have new minds, which will in turn make new inventions and new medicine. Although some think that it would be amazing to have no technology but students, teachers, business people, and anyone that works in 2016 can show you that they take their work serious and can’t have the difficulty have shuffling through all their papers.. There are always people using their phones, tablets, or laptops on a daily basis, even some schools make their students use technology. Even though technology is an outstanding invention, I think it's time for us to have a week of no technology. This is my opinion on whether or not we should have a screen free week. When we use technology we always get trapped into getting into distractions, at school, this could be very serious because it could get our brains off of school work.…

Although technology has its benefits, it does in fact make it harder for people to integrate themselves in the real world that they have in front of them. Seigel uses a quote that states, “Sometimes you simply want to be alone, yet together with other people at the same time… But sitting absorbed in your screenworld is a whole other story”. Seigel is making a distinction between wanting to share solitude yet still being aware, and total detachment from the world you are in to an artificial…

There is so much in the current world that takes away from the way things used to be. Something as gigantic as the innovation of the cellular phone, or something as little as advertisements in the trays at a security checkpoint in the airport, both take away from the possibility of having a moment of solitude in life. Surfing the internet one can find a multitude of different articles chastising the progression of technology, and how it negatively affects society, but one will not find any legitimate research to back up such claims. Two articles, “Stop Googling, Let’s Talk,” and “The Cost of Paying Attention” follow the same form containing large amounts of anecdotal information while lacking genuine evidence. Both rely heavily on logos…

Most lunch table conversations have the same idea over and over again repeating without real thought to the idea. Society as a whole is developing more and more technology to make our life easier but before we know it the thing we have spent so much time into doing is going to make us not have to spend time doing anything. We will be so focused on what other people are doing we are going to miss everything going on in our own lives. Before you know it you have aged 20 years you have a family and you are asking yourself where did the time go. If someone goes a whole day without using technology the possibilities of coming up with new ideas and applying them to yourself will increase because we will always come up with better things for ourselves because it applies directly to yourself not the Kardashians or the next most famous singer.…
