One Tree Hill Sociological Analysis

The definition of media is any format or platform that carries, presents, or communicates information, so everything surrounding us would be considered media. A certain type of media that I will relate back to sociology would be a television show titled One Tree Hill. The show is based around different high school kids and how the love of basketball and the love of the players makes them come together. The show itself, is centered around two half-brothers and how one is considered an outcast, Lucas and the other is considered royalty, Nathan. When Lucas makes the basketball team, Nathan isn't exactly his greatest fan in fact Lucas goes through a round of bullying before he is finally accepted onto the team. Even though, the show is based around …show more content…
The reason for this is because the conflict theory is competition or conflict among competing interests in the basis of society. The big conflict is that Nathan and Lucas are brothers so they are both fighting or competing for the right to continue. Nathan is having to listen to his father telling him how to destroy Lucas whereas Lucas is just trying to live his life the way he wants. So essentially, their father puts his two sons against each other and it isn't until later that the boys realize that they are the ones with all the power and not their father. Another conflict that all of the characters fight with, is their selves. Lucas is constantly fighting his own internal battle and so is Nathan. All of the characters try to find their true selves throughout the show. In conclusion to the theory's that I picked out, it shows the life of a high schooler and what they have to endure. It also teaches the teenagers that watch the show that they can overcome some of the battles that a kid has to endure, it also shows the end game and to keep on pushing through, no matter what life throws at you. The reason for picking this particular show is because I got to watch all of my favorite characters grow up and learn from their mistakes despite their
