Cody Horton, a black jaguar shifter, is an ex-sergeant in the Army Rangers. He and his long time friends from Two Spirit Ranch have spent the past six years dealing with a vicious cult called the Will and the Word. June twenty-seventh was the day that I had been anticipating before the start of summer vacation. I arrived to philly by bus, which was the first bus ride that I had ever taken alone. Before I began my job at Independence Hall, I arrived at Market Street where I was greeted by my crew leaders Mel and Jenny. The rest of my crew members arrived and we made our way to Independence National Historic Park Headquarters. Toni, the park’s landscape architect, introduced herself to the crew.…
I personally think the show “The Beverly Hillbillies” are in a way exploiting white stereotypes. They are showcasing a family from the country moving into a lavish educated society. The show plays on the perception of white trash society, such as rednecks or hillbillies. Although the show is done for comedy purposes, it does capitalize on stereotypes within society. In the book Dean mentions, “Even critics who enjoy the show do so from a crouched defensive posture” which is regarding to another popularized hillbilly show, Honey Boo Boo, but showcases the feelings audiences may be feeling.…
Go Dogs Go, not only is memorized into my brain, but is sitting on my bookshelf with tape holding the cover on, and the color of the illustrations fading every day, no longer the color they were. On page 5, I can still notice the cheesy, Cheetos fingerprint, even though my mother always told me to wash my hands after I finished eating, and before reading. Not only did I have memories with your book, I had journeys. Every time I listened to the book or as I mumbled, and stuttered, trying each word until I was old enough to fluently read this child’s book. Journeys flooding into my imagination as each word was spoken, or as each dog crossed the page.…

For your Discussion Assignment, you will write about the piece of children’s literature you read. You will, describe what you thought of when you read it. You do not have to tell what the story is about, but only what images came to your mind while you read the story. This week I have chosen to read Fairy Tales of The World name called Babylonian Creation Myth, Babylon was a city-state in what is now Iraq; its history goes back at least five thousand years ("Babylonian Creation Myth - Fairy Tales of the World", 2013).…
Brooklyn With this trip came some road bumps. Due to the last minute decision to go on this trip nobody packed waters. Or substantial food. As I drove, Mia scanned for somewhere to get sustenance. After 25 minutes, we pulled up to a cramped grocery store.…
As I played my latest video games, sitting in my favorite bean bag chair, on a seemingly flawless day until I heard the holler of my Mother proclaiming that I needed to leave the house to accomplish something rewarding. Being the gracious child, that I indeed was. I departed hastily, just as most children would; if their mother grabbed them by the ear and flung them out the front door. I dusted myself off, grabbed my bike, and rode over to my friend Tom’s house to hang out. When I arrived, I had discovered that he had a babysitter watching after him.…
As I stepped onto the Crescent Trail I was blasted by vibrant colors. There were leaves and trees and animals. The sun shimmered between the trees and brightened the woods. I saw lots of brown, green, orange and shiny gold. Nick Rory, my mom and I headed deeper into the woods as civilization disappeared behind us.…
I’m a bit of a scaredy cat. I jump at random things and freak out in certain situations, much to the annoyance of my friends. I especially freak out when I’m lost. Getting lost is scary within itself. Getting lost when you’re young and tiny in a strange place is even more terrifying.…
Everyone has his or her paradise or happy place, a place where one can forget about the stresses of life and let loose. My paradise is the lake, I’m sure this is no surprise from a Minnesotan. Any lake will do-though I do have a few favorites. One of my favorites is in Atwater, Minnesota. Here at my grandparent’s house on the shores of Diamond Lake I find my paradise.…
My read aloud did not followed my lesson plan, before I read the story to the students, I forgot to show the students all the pictures in the storybook as I planned. The high points from my read aloud were that the students were engaged by acting out as baby owls or owl mother, and answering the questions from the storybook. The weak points from my read aloud were reading the story too fast, and after I asked a question to the students, I should wait a little longer wait time for the students to think and response. To make the read aloud better for next time, I will need to slow down my speed and pause as needed. Also, after reading the story, I should ask the students some questions for them to connect their own experiences with the story,…
The environment provides many opportunities for children to promotedifferent development. Today, we are going to record a day of an active four-year-old girl named Jennie to see how the environment affects children’s play. When we arrived at her home, she is idly lying on sofa and watching TV whileher mother is busy cooking. After Jennie gets the permission, we then set off and head for garden to have fun! When little Jennie comes to the garden, she is soon attracted by the blooming flower and leaves with tender green.…
At Starr Hill, I am one with nature. I stand on top of one of the overly spray painted rocks and look over the hill and see the faint, small lights of the town in the distance. The wind is blowing in my hair as night comes closer, the sky is turning hues of pink and orange and I am at peace. Sometimes, I come up with friends and we sit on the rocks or right on the ground and we talk for hours.…
There are many groups of Aboriginal people in Sydney and Marrickville Region, one of them is the Cadigal Wangal clans from the Eora Nation. The Cadigal group is located in Petersham and near to the Cooks River, while the Wangal are located near to the Parramatta River in Parramatta. A brief of the big days in Aboriginal traditions was back in 2007 when the NAIDOC (National Aborigines Day Observance Committee) week had the 50 years celebration and the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Referendum.…
