Does hearing about the latest shootings make you as emotional as you were during the first ones? If the answer is no, psychological experts believe that you may be losing a normal emotional reaction to something called desensitization. Frank McAndrew, psychology professor says that it's beginning to become a “fatalistic acceptance” that is now a part of our everyday life. The human brain is trained to notice things that are shocking and traumatic, but now when it's shootings they are becoming an ordinary thing that happens. McAndrew also points out “One shooting is a tragedy, 20 is a statistic.
