There is a process to almost everything and typically when reading the process starts at the beginning with the information to make the climax of the book relatable in a way. They way they started out for me was frustrating but once i made it to the middle i could see why they set the beginning up the way the authors did. The reading style of this book was similar to the book One Minute Manager in the sense that there was a goal of the story that was much more than enjoyment. The authors wanted to show the reader their thought process and they wanted to show you the path that they took to get there. In some places this works great but the beginning of the book it is more frustrating than anything else.

As a parent he is qualified to take the boys hiking but the whole gap in the line mess may not have happened if they actual troop leader was there but again this part of the story was need to help the reader and Alex see what was going on in the plant with the bottlenecks. Typically you hear the story of pack traveling such as this hiking group related to wolves. The wolf pack put the sick and the old at the front of their pack when traveling great distances so that they are setting the pace for the group. With the sick and the old setting the pace there is less risk of overexertion with that group. When this risk is lessened then the need to stop and rest is lowered creating a more efficient way to travel. Alex ponders the gaps in the line for the better part of the afternoon. When it comes time to stop for lunch he is confused as to why they have not made it to their location. Then comes the matchstick game and i am really not sure what the authors were thinking or how it is logical that Alex game would end any other way then it did. The whole idea of this game is frustrating but is exactly what is happening with the bottlenecks at the plant. As a person who like puzzle and things to run smoothly the whole camping trip part of this story is a mess. Herbie should have been placed in front as soon and Alex realized he was falling so far …show more content…
We can see that the automated machines have set amount of production per hour but the human variance can throw off the whole system and this is where Alex’s matchstick game really comes into play. The worker have an average capacity but given the right motivation their productivity can increase or decrease to varying degrees. This throws off the the automated system by only being able to work with what it has then working within its capacity. For me this is where the book picks up and I started to get interested in what was happening at about chapter twenty two. It was enjoyable from this point to watch the theories and methods develop and come come together like with the heat treat machine. Alex had changed it so that someone was always on that machine so when products were done they could be moved and rather than have excess idle time one of the guy chose to organize what was going into the machine next making the loading process much more efficient and making sure anything that was treated at the same time and temp could go into the machine together rather than wasting a whole cycle on a partial

It includes imagery of fantasy, different views of self-image, and the heavy burden that beauty can be and the detrimental ways we look at and treat women. It can be dreadfully tense and there is this feeling of anxiety that runs throughout the novel. The book is romantic when it needed, empowering where it counts, and is simply beautiful in its telling.…

When a mention of the future is made, one might be enthralled over the plethora of groundbreaking technology which could exist by then, but to author Ray Bradbury, this is no source of excitement. In his novel, Fahrenheit 451, he sees past the benefits which technology brings forth and exposes its drawbacks. He notes how people have become addicted and overly reliant on technology, turning away from reading books which, in turn, cultivated their critical thought and individualism. Such a vision is undoubtedly astonishing; in looking at the developed societies of today, the effects of technology on the populaces so uncannily resemble those described by Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451, showing that the future which he so desperately tried to prevent…

I rarely enjoy reading the introduction when I read a book. Most of time I find them dull and full of, well, introductory but when I started reading the introduction of Nudge, I was instantly hooked with the analogy that the authors provided, what will Carolyne do? Which of the 5 possible options presented in the book will she choose? Simply, I was caught up in the story, and who doesn’t like a good story! Regardless of the fact that this is book is all about economics and economical behavior, I found it really easy to follow, understand, and grasp.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…
