I am so excited to write to you after finishing the book, One Hundred Year of Solitude. Thank you so much for creating such a great legacy for human history, especially for Latino History and inventing a phenomenal heroine in literature history, Ursula. There were some difficulties for me to read the book at the beginning, reality versus imagination, present versus past and future, same name people from different generations versus each other. Inside of telling a traditional story about one person, together with building conflicts about him or her, you weaken the impressions of individuals and create an idea of the family as a cohesive whole, letting the plot developing smoothly also naturally by itself. It is unlike the kind of novels that I am familiar with. Nevertheless, I have a helpful company, Ursula, holding my hand and standing by my side through this process. Ursula is more like one of the readers, an outsider, who has looked through the entire family developing pattern then noticing the pessimistic truth under the specious surface. She is the only one who witnesses how does everyone in this family endeavor to extricate solitude, by choosing different methods, but then failed and passed down the solitude to the next generation.
