There seems to be nothing better than a good book or a good movie. If that is the case then how come there never seems to be a good movie based on a book? Could it be because there was not any actor who could match the description of the character perfectly? Maybe it was because there was so much information in the book they were able to take away a few details to help with time management for the movie. However, there is a difference to editing for time management and changing the storyline.…

I believe the movie is more impactful than the novel. There are three reasons why I think this, the movie had way better visuals, more drama and the movie showed me how the characters felt and showed graphic images of their wounds, therefore made me feel sympathetic, nervous and compassionate for the characters. The visuals in the movie were amazing. In the novel, I couldn’t easily picture what was going on. The visuals made so many emotions run through me.…

One major difference between the two is that the movie ends and leaves the audience in hope. While on the other hand, the book leaves the reader in great guilt and despair. Though the book sounds better than the movie it does have an edge by being able to show the hardship of discrimination amongst society. It really gives the audience a look on how group conformity is supporting the cause. Although, the book is more straightforward and has a cause and effect action, with the war being in effect.…

Is it possible that The Reader which is a romance, is an extremely sick, and twisted love story? The Reader is about a fifteen-year-old boy who falls in love with a thirty-six-year-old woman, and vice versa. What the main idea of the book and movie is about is up for debate. An argument can be made that the story is more about the negative impact of illiteracy on someone’s life, than it’s about a romantic love story, and it wouldn’t be a false notion. In the broad scheme of things, The Reader is more about a case of submission, and dominance that absolutely ruins a person’s whole entire life.…

In many book to movie adaptation, characters and scenes are added or left out to meet with time constraints or to keep the movie interesting. The 2011 movie adaptation of Jane Eyre directed by Cary Fukunaga is no different, it attempts to stay true to the five-hundred-page book in just under two hours. However, the director lacks fidelity in his movie adaptation. While, the movie stays true to the basic storyline of the novel, many scenes in the movie destroy the integrity of the main character Jane Eyre, altering her from an independent, observant, intellectual character, to one who is weak, controlled, and ultimately the walking symbol of the patriarchy. There is one particular scene that has been added to the movie that best portrays the weakening of Jane Eyre.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…
