Prompt Number 2: To be honest i Don’t really know much about the McPheron brothers. The first section where they have their own chapter isn’t till a little bit into the book. They live on a farm with chickens. I don’t understand why they would just grow up by themselves and not get married but my thought would be that it’s because they only had each other when they were growing up. Which would be a reasonable explanation. Maybe one of their parents wasn’t there a lot or just wasn’t there at all. I don’t think that they are lonely because they have each other as wells as Maggie and Guthrie before Victoria came. I feel like even though they still have each other when Victoria came it made a huge changed and they had someone to care for other than themselves and they were happy to do it. I think that it meant for them that they will be able to have some type of other experience in their lives because before that she said, “well, look at you. You’re going to die some day without ever having had enough trouble in your life. Not of the right kind anyway” (Haruf 110). The way it’s read it sounds a bit harsh

The way that he put Ike and Bobby in a situation where their mom doesn’t want to stay with them and they picked on by high school boys is not okay. That kind of makes me wonder exactly how Haruf grew up and how he came up with the ideas to write a book such as this. In Plainsong there isn’t a real put together family so far and i wonder why because when i looks up a biography and Kent Haruf it said that he got married twice and had 3 kids from his first marriage. I don’t know if this is exactly true but if it is then why would he make a book about the total opposite of what is going on with and his family. Haruf might describe family as something that is broken and that everyone in a family is different and just goes their separate ways. I
