Ever since I was 11 years old, One Direction has been one of my favorite bands. Watching One Direction grow as a band, whether it be a new album, a new chart topping single, or even losing a member, they have maintained one of the top positions on the Billboard charts for the past four years. As long as there has been pop-culture, entertainers have defined it. From the stage of The X-Factor UK to concert tours across the world that each grossed tens of millions of dollars, One Direction has taken the world by storm. According to IMDb.com, One Direction did not originally audition for The X-Factor, rather Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik auditioned individually for season 7 of The X-Factor. The young men did not make it past the “boot-camp” phase of the show, but the judges then decided to put them together to form a band. Thus, the One Direction we know today was formed. One Direction (as well as the other groups in that season of The X-Factor) was mentored by Simon Cowell, television personality, record producer, and a judge on The

Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. Skynyrd never relied on the jazzy improvisations of the Allman Brothers. Instead, they were a hard-living, hard-driving rock & roll band -- they may have jammed endlessly on-stage, but their music remained firmly entrenched in blues, rock, and country. Throughout the band's early records, Van Zant demonstrated a knack for lyrical detail and a down-to-earth honesty that had more in common with country than rock & roll.…
