One Direction Here to Stay Bon Jovi, Metallica, Michael Jackson, and AC/DC: These are all famous musicians that have withstood the test of time. A boy band would not usually be included in such a notable group of musicians like this unless it is NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys. Even so, One Direction is a group that will stand the test of time because they have many fans, they are original, and they have won many awards. In just a short period of time, One Direction has gained many devoted fans that have demonstrated an abundance of love and support. Their many fans range from boy-crazed, social media obsessed fan girls to famous celebrities (including other musicians). Even though the band received boos from the audience at the Video Music Awards after being awarded “Best Song of the Summer”, International Business Times states, “Lady Gaga talked to the boys backstage telling them “I just want to tell you that you deserve every bit of success you have.’” Not only is Lady Gaga a fan but Taylor Swift is too! Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. Skynyrd never relied on the jazzy improvisations of the Allman Brothers. Instead, they were a hard-living, hard-driving rock & roll band -- they may have jammed endlessly on-stage, but their music remained firmly entrenched in blues, rock, and country. Throughout the band's early records, Van Zant demonstrated a knack for lyrical detail and a down-to-earth honesty that had more in common with country than rock & roll.…

Music and society have a large impact on each other, and how they shape the way people view and act in the world. There are four themes that identify and characterize how music has evolved over the past one hundred years.
