In Nina Power’s book One Dimensional Woman, she discusses how the line between a worker’s professional and personal life can become extremely blurred, specifically in relation to their bodies. Power states, “If men and women are at all times supposed to be a kind of walking CV, constantly networking, constantly advertising themselves, then this ‘body’ is the prime locus for any understanding of the way in which the logic of employment overcodes our very comportment.” pg 23. With working at home the line between professional and personal can become especially blurred. The only person to hold you accountable is yourself, which can lead to work not getting done in as timely of a manner as it might with a scary boss biting at your heels. The many distractions of being at home are always present as well. It can be tempting to simply turn on the TV, do the dishes, or to tidy up the house.
