What if one day nobody hid anything from anybody? What if one day I took my mask off and showed you this hideousness behind my fake smile? We all have things to hide, a pimple to conceal, a bra to pad, and a tear to wipe away when nobody’s looking. Some just have a little more to hide.

The conversations are hushed and hurried. Stress is visible on everybody’s face. My friends are encircled around me, the school has been canceled for the day and nobody is ready to go home. Ryan: Oh. Me: What’s wrong? Ryan: Kenny, can I be downright honest with you? Me: Aren’t you always, Ry? Ryan: I guess you’re right there… But Kenny, I’m scared. This killer is coming closer and closer to home. Nobody can find any connection between any of the victims, and have you heard how gruesome it all is? It makes me sick. Me: Ry, you can’t worry about this. It’ll make you sick. People get what’s coming to them in the end. Me: Do you want to get everyone over tonight? We can watch silent movies and make our own words again. Ryan: Sure, who's texting, everybody? Me: I got it, no worries.
I send a huge group chat to all the normal people: Alijah, the Twins: Michael and Josiah, Spencer, and Andy with her new boyfriend, Josh, telling them all to come over at five.
I spent the whole rest of day hiking around town, trying to calm my ever wandering mind. Somehow, I find myself in front of Mrs. Gerlauch’s house. With only her car in the driveway. Oh, just too perfect. When everybody finally gets to my house, we pile into my basement and press play on our favorite silent movie,
