Bonjour. Hola. Guten Tag. Ciao. Ola. Namaste. Salaam. Hello. Language is a key thing in culture, society, and day to day life. Its what we use to speak to cashiers when buying milk. It's how we greet our friends, or to express wonder or amazement. Some can form it into beautiful melodious forms, and perform it as singing or reciting poems. There are over 6,500 languages in the world, each of which are unique and diverse, and so are the people that speak them. Even though almost every country in the world has a different national language then the other countries, the world is a unified, yet wildly diverse planet, and it is beautiful. This neighbor speaks a tiny, tiny amount of english. We have no idea what he actually speaks. But the other day, my mom was working in the yard, and he was taking a walk around the neighborhood. I heard laughing, and through broken english and hand signals, my mom and this neighbor were having such a hilarious, light hearted, and genuine interaction, they were both laughing. It only lasted a few minutes but it was inspiring. To know, that these two people, who spoke next to no words in the other person's language, could have such a genuine, and funny interaction is an amazing and reassuring thing to know. This shows that even through a language hurdle, not a barrier, that people can still have fun and be happy. On the topic of different languages being spoken between two people language expert Brian Kwong has said ""Friend” does not equal “language partner”". He says this to show people can have humorous and fun interactions without speaking the same language. There is no reason to make everyone in the world speak the same language. It is something that can be worked around, and it is not a barrier that needs to be blown up. If two people really do need to talk to each other with comprehensible words and statements, there are amazing ways to do this. The most simple one is an amazing tool called google translate. It might be a bit broken and wonky in places, but it can get the job done for neighbors. If its more formal, and one needs a bit more than google translate, there are bilingual people who can work as translators. Bottom line, language can not stop those who are willing to

At the last moment that I was with her she never stop to smile and be gentle, that make me think that maybe she knew something of Spanish.…

The language the was usually heard when I first moved in has also changed throughout the years and has had an impact on the type of people I now interact with on the daily basis. With the different cultures growing and moving into the neighborhood I live in I have begun to see a change in the type of local shops, clothing, and food. Even at the local schools, I can see the changes in culture and how schools try to have better interactions with the children.…

Having an altered perception of the world, Ken Kesey created the captivating novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In his novel Kesey has constructed a world within a psychiatric ward, which becomes a microcosm of society. In this world the assumed deaf and dumb Chief Bromden, and other timid patients are heavily controlled by Nurse Ratched, an authority apart of the powerful and dehumanising combine. Through figurative language, foreshadowing and motifs readers are warned about the influence of societal expectations can have, particularly on a person’s power, sexuality and individuality, and thus Kesey ultimately leads us to question what it means to be human and an accepted member of society. Through the unreliable and delusional narration of Chief, who believes his experience on the ward was ‘the truth even if it didn’t happen’, Kesey allows us to see how societal expectations may affect a person’s…

Thus far Biblical languages have been very interesting. I am learning how to break down and also how to investigate the meanings of words in reference to my reading and understanding of the Word of God. Studying the New Testament in its original language is very important when trying to bring forth the Word of God to current Christians and not miss what the author intended when the passage was first written. Black stated that the principles of Greek Instruction is indeed important; however, it is the servant’s heart, a love for God and for God’s people that makes studying Greek an important part of the seminary curriculum. This theory I agree with because as we study how to find the first intended meaning of a word or words in the New Testament…
