As the song plays, my appreciation and attention levels remained constant from beginning to end because the musical tone of the song kept me engaged. This engagement I had with the song made believe that the theme of the song is to stop worrying about my life’s past events and ask Jesus for help and strength to move forward to a brighter future. The artist’s constant search for Jesus’ help was what I personally liked most about this song because it taught me and also made me realize the importance of God’s help through the course of our life. Lane’s inspirational song and history can clearly be seen through her musical piece One Day at a Time. Even though Lane struggled to find success as a music artist, she kept insisting until she achieved her goal. This is represented in her song because she keeps stating how she wants to find the strength to keep moving forward. Due to her interesting character, there is a movie being made about her life story. With the message of this song, I will continue to push forward towards my goal, because as she stated, “Lord, help me today, show me the way, One day at a

Dime- Store Lips Singer songwriter Ray LaMontagne sings my favorite and most cherished song. This is a song that I am very close to and one that I have sat down and played more times in a row than I can count. In the song “Empty” Ray LaMontagne sings from his troubled point of view expressing his feelings of sorrow and numbness. “Empty” is a song that speaks for my hindered ability to open up and speak out about the things that go through my mind on a daily basis and the consequences to my silence. Ray LaMontagne has a very bleak and pessimistic point of view of the world due to his empty feelings and he captures the aspect of what it is really like to live with the numbness that comes with my silence.…
