One Crazy Summer is a story about three girls that travel to Oakland, California in 1968 , to see their mother they never met. Throughout the novel, the girls and Cecile changed a lot. They spent 28 days with their mother learning about her and where she has been . But for most of those days, they were at a Black Panther camp because their mother did not want them in her presence . Cecile wanted peace and quiet so she can make her poems and think .Over the 28 days, the girls and Cecile developed different personalities and met new people. The three sisters went through a lot while at the camp. But the character that changed the most would arguably be Fern.
In the beginning of One Crazy Summer Fern acted more like a baby than a seven year old . But close to the end she became more independent doing things for herself .Like in the beginning Fern would not really talk she still expressess her feelings. Fern was …show more content…

Hirohito asked Delphine to ride his go-kart even though Delphine wanted to say no she got on anyway knowing it was a chance to have fun .
