Cinderella is an all time classic tale kept alive by tradition passed it down from generation to generation. Older versions of Cinderella come as a surprise to many since it does not always have a happy ending. Modern children's literature does not compare to older revisions as it leaves traces from other cultures, provide invaluable lessons, the writers were great storytellers, and the ability for children to dream. Older people have a beloved book that has touched them in some way whether that be reading it when they were young or recalling their parents telling them. The village square is the average gathering ‘center’ for the lottery. Although typical town squares are usually bustling with business affairs and playing children, the town square within “The Lottery” is not only a playground for children, but for death as well. This is demonstrated by the grotesque ending of “The Lottery”. Mrs. Hutchinson’s apron not only demonstrates that the lottery occurred while she was working, but it also sets the opinion that the lottery is nothing but a burden for the town. The lottery takes people out of their normal routine within the day, which must irritate some of the townspeople.…

When folk tales begin to have their story retold in modern society, it begins by having a vast audience, because the movie industries like to make money and they tend to open up stories to give them a never ending story. Now when it comes to, A Cinderella Story it is based off of the stars that played in the movie, music in the background and the strong male/female roles, another touch to make it more modern would be humor that tends to be added to help ease the audience. “Funny and sweet update of the Cinderella story” (A Cinderella).…

Characters in this production have a wish they want to come true, but things do not necessarily go the way they plan, and the choices they make are not exactly the wisest. The production begins with three of the four fairytales on stage. The lighting shifts from one fairytale to the next as the storyline develops. There appears to be two major scene designs - the first being each fairytale’s home setting and the second the woods. Each has a slight variation depending upon where in the story it is.…
