On Writing Well William Zinsser Analysis

Decent Essays
In my rhetorical essay on, On Writing Well, by William Zinsser I tried my best write an essay to effectively show my reader in what I believed. In this essay I wrote how I thought William Zinsser was very effective in proving and demonstrating his points to his readers. I went into talking about how he involved some of his points through his own writing and as he did was very effective. As I wrote my essay, I included quotes and examples that Zinsser used through the book, to show prove of what I would state and why I stated it. Throughout my essay, I had many complications in trying to get my point across due to the fact that I had trouble understanding the concept of the essay myself. As my peers reviews would say I would talk about the reading

Over the past four weeks we have examined spoken discourse through speeches, and analyzed advertisements. Howbeit, it 's time to dig into written discourse; essays are a form of written discourse. How so? An essay allows the writer to use logic in order to express their thoughts, show the writer 's understanding. To a greater extent it 's a great way for the writer to argue their point by providing sufficient evidence by using Aristotle 's three rhetorical appeals logos, pathos, ethos.…

Argumentative Essay Ben Franklin once wrote, “Well done is better than well said.” In simpler terms, Franklin is stating that actions are better than words. While actions and words are both elements that can be manipulated to fit a given situation, one is usually more efficient in solving problems, defining character, and accomplishing goals. In the novels Unbroken and Maus, the actions of the characters prove to be the most vital asset in their survival by helping them overcome obstacles and giving their lives meaning and purpose. On the other hand, The Scarlet Letter illustrates that being unable to transform words into actions makes one emotionally and mentally weaker.…

Although I haven’t gotten feedback on the essay I believe it better fulfills the meaning of rhetorical analysis as it is defined in this class. Part of the problem with my previous essays was that I was using the same formatting as in my high school rhetorical analysis papers which have a more broad definition of rhetoric. So, I tried to shape my essay for what I believe is expected of rhetorical analysis in here. The paper took quite a bit less work and effort to make using the other definition so I am interested in seeing how the results turn out.…

After reading Mike Bunn’s “How to Read Like a Writer,” I revisited my directed self-placement essay while asking myself the many questions Bunn recommends to ask oneself when “reading like a writer.” In doing so, I was able to recognize the strengths and weaknesses I possess as a writer, and therefore know where I need to grow the most as a writer. One of my greatest strengths as a writer is knowing my audience and composing my writing accordingly. I am aware that when my audience is a teacher who will be reading and grading plenty of the same essays to include original ideas and arguments; it gets boring reading the same type of paper and ideas over and over. Along with my well thought out ideas and arguments, I also credit myself with the ability of using appropriate evidence from credible sources that support my claims.…

Since the beginning of my first year at school I have been learning to read and write. Throughout these years I have had a lot of experiences with reading and writing. All through high school we would write responses and essays over books we read. On the first day of class, I felt pretty confident about my level of skills as a writer, but little did I know there were a lot of aspects in my writing that could be improved. As time progressed and we learned more about colloquial language and little things I could change in my essays to further advance and improve my writing. Now, I feel even more confident about my writing and know that all of these little changes I can make in my writing create a better flow of ideas and a higher level of formality. I feel that throughout this semester I have been greatly challenged as a writer and have advanced the most that I ever have in writing within such a short period of time. I have put in a lot time and effort into this class in order to create…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone.
