betrayal is believed to be a serious and self-respecting action in on the waterfront, this is seen in the way that terrys character is shown as a brave and good person because of his betrayal that is percieved as a heroic action for the greater good. this same act is percieved as an act of self interest that is wrong in every situation in the outlook of a view from the bridge the betrayal that happens in both a view from the bridge and on the waterfront leads to the terrible events of both rivals Eddie and Johnny Friendly. ( Loyalty and trust is kept through the fear of the results for speaking out. keeping quiet is considered the safest option
