In “on the rainy river” by Tim O’Brien, the narrator’s point of view contributes to the overall meaning by presenting a situation that the narrator was place in and then shows how his decision shaped or might have shaped his future. He first represented a sensitive character that would think about how people would think of him. His negative way of thinking lead him to take a wrong decision that changed his foreseeable future. By the author showing us how the character would think and act, he brought up the idea of being worried of judgmental people. His message represented that listening to people judge could possibly lead you to decide a wrong decision that may lead you to completely changing your future.
