On Little Wings is a mysterious novel by Regina Sirois. Set on the friendly coast of Maine, the novel is no doubt a heartwarmer for tweens, teens, and adults. The main character, Jennifer, is the only child to parents that are both only children. She is a calm, logical, 16-year-old girl living in the golden state of Kansas. The plot twist is found in the very beginning of the book, where Jennifer finds a photograph of a strange woman in the attic of her house. The woman could not of been a relative of Jennifer, so out of curiosity, she asks her mother who the woman in the picture is. Jennifer is shocked that her mother, who she had thought was an only child, has a sister that Jennifer never knew about throughout her childhood. Overwhelmed by her mother’s lie, Jennifer demands to contact her aunt immediately. Claire, also overwhelmed, forbids Jennifer to call her aunt, Sarah, because she believes that Sarah was the cause of her mother’s death. Jennifer is frustrated by her mother, so she finds her aunt’s phone number online and calls her. Then, behind her mother’s back, Jennifer organizes a trip to Maine, where Sarah lives. Though Claire is reluctant to let her daughter travel all the way to Maine, Jennifer is so determined to meet Sarah that her mother could not hold her back. Immediately upon arrival in Maine, Jennifer is immersed in the beautiful community of her mother’s childhood. She is enchanted by the endless sea and the friendly dock full of new people to meet. Thus begins Jennifer and Sarah’s adventure in Maine. Jennifer is such a lovable, relatable character, and readers will definitely feel like they are right there next to her when they read this book. While in Maine, Jennifer meets many new people, including Nathan, her fluttering first love and Little, a stubborn old woman who inspires the book’s title, On Little Wings, with the
