Memories from people's childhoods flow through their mind everyday. Some experience the loving, happy memories, while others are not so lucky. All of the past memories, emotions, and events have shaped us into who we all are today. Everyone grew up differently, everyone had different experiences. Some would say that the most important part of growing up, or even raising a child, would be love, kindness, care, the power, their looks, their personality or maybe creativity. The list can go on forever. There are so many things that need to be included in growing up, so how do we find one thing out of all of them? How do we choose? There is one that can relate and conquer all the others. The most important part of growing up, or raising a child, would have to be their passion.
When growing up with passion, the more people will be able to have a newer and better understanding for others. The passage, “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,” by Maya Angelou, has shown that passion can influence people's lives greatly. In the story it states, “she began the first of what we later called ‘my lessons in living’ … ‘Take this book of poems and memorize one for me. Next time you pay me a visit, I want you to recite it’ … I didn’t question why Mrs.Flowers had singled me out for attention” (Angelou 58-59). From those multiple statements it shows that Marguerite had some sort of liking for Mrs. Flowers and Mrs. Flowers could tell that Marguerite wanted to be educated. That is one of the reasons why Marguerite admired Mrs.Flowers so much. The lessons of living were to be in the future when Marguerite would go back and learn.
