Omission William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is the reason for the consequences that have arisen from his inability to act upon his wishes. Hamlet himself has repeated on numerous occasions that, upon hearing of the vile deed Claudius has done in murdering his father, he wishes to take revenge and murder Claudius. However, Hamlet failed to complete his task because of his morality, his uncertainty, and his intelligence.
Throughout the play, it is pretty clear and evident that Hamlet is a devoted christian which is one of the main reasons that forced Hamlet to delay the murdering of Claudius. While Hamlet is extremely depressed with his uncle murdering his father and marrying his mom only two months since his death, the problem Hamlet has with dying is that he doesn’t know exactly what happens when we die. He is scared about the thought of what he will become should he die and this ties in with the acts of uncertainty he has displayed throughout the play which I will get more into later. Now, we see that Hamlet doesn’t see committing suicide as a viable option because of the religious restrictions and unknown consequences in the afterlife so he has to figure out a way on how to morally murder Claudius which Hamlet does so by recreating the play “Murder of Gonzago”. Following the play that Hamlet has arranged of “Murder of Gonzago” to confirm his suspicion of the guiltiness of Claudius, where he has successfully done by the action shown by Claudius where he storms out in anger, meaning that it allowed Hamlet to morally kill Claudius. But shortly before he finally attempts to murder Claudius, he begins to pray. Showing that Hamlet believed that should he murder Claudius during this exact moment, Claudius would be sent to heaven rather than hell. Should he send him to heaven, Hamlet believed that this wouldn’t avenge his father 's death but would rather be “hire and salary (3.3.84).” However the one thing that Hamlet didn’t know at the time was that Claudius was never truly repenting his sins and Claudius knew he wasn’t, as he was caught saying “My words fly up, my thoughts remain below; Words without thoughts never to heaven go (3.4.102-103).” shortly after.
Uncertainty is one of the most prevalent themes in the story of Hamlet, it is arguably one of the main reasons if not the main reason that caused Hamlet’s inevitable demise. Since his interaction with the supposed ghost of his father, he has never been able to make up his mind on whether or not it is truly his father or if it’s a spirit trying to tempt him into murdering Claudius and destroy Hamlet saying:

Be thou a spirit of health or goblin
