Small community members used to still together, and people used to watch out for others more so than they do today; unless of course I was a sheltered child and was protected from the knowledge of such things, which could be the reason that I was unaware. For either reason, I feel that people, in general, have lost the ability to

Communities in today's environment is very different then it was in the setting of the book, but still has its flaws towards racial discrimination. In today’s community, there are many protests and etcetera with how police and racial discrimination are linked together. In the book there are also many ways that the community is separated through communities actions, especially because of the setting of the book and all the discrimination that happened in that time period. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird author Harper Lee argues that community can be an ugly and evil place. One event that shows that community an evil place, was when Tom Robinson got the guilty verdict during his trial.…

Throughout this paper, I will argue that through a systematic process of connected laws and policies, concentrated incarceration formulates a cycle of harm that subdues entire disadvantaged communities. Looking at human capital, social network and social capital, family functioning, child development, and informal social control, I will discuss the ways in which zero tolerance policing has destroyed the ability of urban communities to thrive in society, essentially creating the criminals they aim to imprison. In this way, as illustrated by Randol Contreras, Paul Butler, Matt Taibbi and Todd Clear, pro-social control policy makers shape the path for coercive mobility forcing individuals into correctional institutions, and directly impacting the way their…

The artifacts that I have included are all reflective of my unit 4 writing assignment progression. I decided to revise my unit 4 writing assignment "The Legacy of Agent Orange" because it has been difficult for me. Initially I failed to completely understand the objective of the assignment and as a result I submitted a paper that failed to argue a misperceived facet of American culture. Furthermore, I felt the urge to rewrite the paper so that it further reflected my development as a writer because I feel that I have made significant improvements to my overall understanding of writing throughout the duration of this course. The artifacts included detail the initial confusion, identifying the issue, and finally developing a course of action…

A community environment serves an important function in shaping our personal development and belief system. The community an individual grows up in says a lot about that individual as a person. With strengths, comes weaknesses and every community differs in many ways. The community I grew up in may differ from the community others lived in, and that’s what makes us all unique and different from one another. No matter if you live on Grand View Drive or you live on the south side of Chicago each community has its different problems, and just because someone may live in a different neighborhood than you doesn’t mean you are complete polar opposites it just means you experience obstacles differently in your daily routine and that is completely…

The Dream of the Rood The Dream of the Rood is an Old English, allegorical retelling of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ from a different point of view. Many seem to think this poem is only told from the point of view of the cross that Jesus was crucified on, but an additional interpretation is that this story is told seemingly through the point of view of a normal man, but in all actuality it is the retelling of the vision that Jesus had before he was arrested and his acceptance of his duty to be sacrificed for the forgiveness of sinners. There are three sections of The Dream of the Rood.…
