Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship Essay Throughout my high school years, I wanted to change others more than they change me. Learning to write, speak, and think are competence that are deep within me and are ready to ascend. College is a place to advance education, and I would utilize that education to get to the next level of helping a greater population in the future. My primary study is a Biology degree. After a long, well-thought out process, my deepest desire is to attend medical school and work as a Surgeon. Even though the road is a long process, the persistency to start modifying and making a difference to affect my community is being done now and will be during …show more content…
It allows me to focus on the matter of others more and worry about myself less often such as working to pay for the necessary education I am obtaining. Making a difference in a world where there is little positivity is horrifying, but we push through. Continuously, with no hesitation, I will bring the people around me up and bring out their strengths and the light within them. To be successful, to be intelligent, to be a change. Those are the three main reasons I want to attend college. In this day and age, many jobs require a higher level of education to be able to work. Those jobs that don’t require a degree, depend upon more manual labor, backbreaking work and lower wages. I would rather remain in school longer, expand my knowledge, and get a career on everything I have learned, than go straight to the work field to earn less and do more.…

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

Upon entry of the story “Talking Back,” by Bell Hooks she declares that “talking back” means speaking as an equal to an authority figure. “It meant daring to disagree and sometimes it just meant having an opinion,” (Hooks 152). Hooks states that she apprehends that women of different races should be able to express their opinions, not just inside the household but also out. She then reveals some of her early trials as a writer and the complications with being a female, African American child (Hooks). In my opinion, being a female with sympathy on the subject of achieving women 's rights, I do agree to an extent with what Hooks has declared.…
