Essay On Omakayas

Omakayas has gained strength and knowledge through the seasons. There were many hard times for Omakayas but that is what made her stronger throughout the book. Omakayas has gone through things like getting tackled by a bear, getting low on food and even something like her little brother dying because of a sickness from the people that are trying to take over the native americans land. As you can see the whole family has grown in some way during all the seasons. In the Summer Omakayas’s mother told her to go fetch the scissors from Old Tallow. Omakayas went to Old Tallow’s to fetch the scissors and Omakayas could tell by the old and strong yellow dog that was standing next to her growling that the dog was threatening to kill her. But, Old Tallow did not let that happen and gave Omakayas the scissors in a nice beaded bag. Old tallow did not treat others the way she treats Omakayas. Omakayas hears her dad and some other men talk about how the white men are moving them over more to the west. But, Omakayas does not get too involved in there conversation. Omakayas is now jealous of her older sister because Angeline can bead better than her. But, Omakayas just started to bead with her sister and Angeline was still kind about her beading. A couple of days later a white man comes but not just a normal white man it is a white man that has a disease.
