Olympic Games Essay The Olympics was created in 776 BC and the word Olympics was created from an ancient Olympic game which was in Olympia, Greece from the 8th century to the 4th century. The person who created the Olympics was Baron Pierre de Coubertin who created this idea in 1894 but these games were created in honor of Zeus, king of gods and the rings that you see on an Olympic flag were created by Pierre de Coubertin in 1914.
Although the ancient Games were staged in Olympia, Greece, from 776 BC through 393 AD, it took 1503 years for the Olympics to return. The first modern Olympics were held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. The man responsible for its rebirth was a Frenchman named Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who presented the idea in 1894.

To host a major event like this can cost lots of money, and it will be paid through taxes. This lead us to another disadvantage, taxes will dramatically increase. People know that this might happen, but taxes often increase more than expected. Also, many facilities that are specially built for the Olympics will never be used again or they will never get proper maintenance. Of course, this depends on what the local government plans to do to increase participation in sports and the use of these facilities. If things go as planned and expected, the nation can benefit from positive publicity, but if things go badly it can cause the opposite and not many people will choose it as their next …show more content…

Michael Philips was an American swimmer for the Olympics and some of the strokes that he did was a butterfly stroke, individual medley and freestyle strokes. Michael Philips won many medals by doing what he does best which is swim. Usain Bolt was Olympic athlete who was a Jamaican sprinter and held a world record in the 100-meter, 200 meter and 4 x 10-meter relay races.
