The Olympic Games have been a set tradition in our society for many years. The games bring forth a variation of cultures from all over the globe to all compete in this selective event. Years of preparation are needed to conduct these games due to venue construction and training. Funding this event is also a huge factor because the games bring forth extensive costs. It takes years to plan and construct a worthwhile experience in real life and when watching these games on television. The United States should not bid to host an Olympic Games because of the unavoidable impacts the games will bring to our society including national debt. One of the biggest cons that comes from hosting the Olympic Games is restriction of people's rights.

Debt is a major issue our country is already facing and will continue to face if more money is spent on what we don't need as of right now. Lines 1 through 4 in document 3 states, “These days the summer Games might generate $5-to-6 billion in total revenue (nearly half of which goes to the International Olympic Committee).
