He was struck down with a sudden case of malaria fever in sixteen fifty eight which was directly followed by urinary and kidney illness. Cromwell died at the Age of fifty nine and his death was most likely caused by septicemia following his urinary infection. He was buried with a great ceremony. And on January thirtieth sixteen sixty one his body was taken out of the ground or exhumed and the ritual of posthumous execution was done to his body.
