However, to a large extent, the character of Nancy was also affected by the people around her. In this novel, Oliver and Miss Rose were the two people who had a positive influence on Nancy's character. Oliver had a similar life with Nancy, so every time when Nancy saw the little Oliver, she would be very sympathetic to him and wished this poor boy would not live the same way as she did. That is the main reason why Nancy firmly decided to help Oliver to get rid of Fagin's abuse. And Miss Rose, who never in the midst of cold and hunger, had an quite enviable life. During meeting of Nancy and Rose, Nancy was deeply touched by Rose's kindness. When Oliver was cheated back to Fagin's house, Nancy touched his head softly just like a big sister and asked whether his mother would worry about him. Then, little Oliver told her that he was an orphan so he did not have parents. Nancy can feel that Oliver was just a kind and innocent child from his behavior and words, but she knew that this poor child would be trained by Fagin as a bad pickpocket in a short time.
