Old Navy Genre Analysis Old Navy is an American clothing and accessories company owned by the corporation Gap Inc. As holiday season approaches, retail stores such as Old Navy hire thousands of seasonal workers to keep pace with the millions of shoppers who are expected to hit the stores during the holiday season. A lack of solid teamwork can cause certain tasks to be completed more than once while other tasks are neglected. Communication between team members, a key component of teamwork, is vital to ensuring that all employees know what needs to be done, and what their specific responsibilities are. Social media is a genre that is heavily integrated in people’s lives; in today’s society, the use of social media has become a necessary daily activity to share, create, and spread information to one another. “Old Navy 6091 Worky Worky Peeps,” is a closed facebook group created for the Old Navy employees who work in the Park Place Mall location, hence the “6091” in the group name, which is that specific store’s code. The group is essential for communicating to one another, if the sales associates want to switch or give up their shifts, they are able to post details about their shifts in short and concise sentences such as “can someone cover my 4-7 fitting room Thursday, I have a volleyball game and won't be able to make it,” this lets the other associates know if they are available to work at that particular time and where the shift is located; either in sales floor, fitting room, or on register. The facebook group can also be used to ask any questions regarding anything that has to do with Old Navy, the group also allows members to post events from the organizations that Old Navy is connected with such as Boys & Girls Clubs Of
