Old Major In George Orwell's Animal Farm

In the book Animal Farm, there are important characters who mimic important people in history. George Orwell writes an analogy, resembling Karl Marx, on how the animals perceive life as human beings and how they are planning a rebellion. One of the main characters in the book is Old Major, an old wise boar, who dramatically changed the lives of the animals on the farm by his engaging proclamation about equality. The speech Old Major presents is a replica of Karl Marx Communist Manifesto. Karl Marx tells the people about how he can bring equality to them, which includes a better world of equality and justice for the people on all social classes. As we read in the text, “Marx adopted the more extreme form of socialism known as communism, which called for a revolution by the working class that would tear down the capitalist world(History.comStaff). Without their dedication to put their ideas to the rebellion the people would have no courage to fight and win. Just like Marx, Old major dies three days before the rebellion. The people who were truly impacted by his pamphlet, immediately began to start to prepare. We see this when we read , ¨ For Marx, the goal was the conquest of political power by workers, the abolition of private property, and the eventual establishment of a classless and stateless communist society(Menand). This shows that after Marxs death his ideas began to invert into a serious influence to the people and started with movements of starting preparation for the rebellion. Marx inspired many people who didn't have equality to take his plan and take action. Just as Old Major's dream had motivated the animals to begin and carry out the plan to the spread of communism.
