Old-Earth Secular View
In the Old Earth Secular viewpoint, the Nebular Hypothesis is the most widely accepted
model in the field of cosmogony, which explains the formation and evolution of our Solar
System and the other …show more content…
Some of the Solar Nebula elements were heavier, including
oxygen, lead and iron. The nebula decreased under its own gravity, accumulating into lumps that
at the end became the sun, planets, moons and other bodies.
According to the Old-Earth supporters, the secular age of the earth is about 4.5 billion
years and a universe is about 14 billion years old. As with Mars, Mercury and Venus, they were
formed from some elements that had accumulated in a zone round about 55 million to 230
million kilometers (35 million to 140 million miles) from the sun. Even though the Earth did
have some hydrogen and helium in its early atmosphere, its weak gravity lost its light gases right
afterwards.
Young-Earth View
The Young-Earth viewpoint for this portion of the essay will discuss the Six-Day
creation. The Young-Earth’s view point comes from the bible and discusses the book of Genesis.
According to Genesis 1, it states that the earth was created on the first day of creation (Genesis 1:1–5). Also in Genesis 1, it discusses that the Earth was created, but the universe was created as well. A lot of people have tried to determine the Earth’s age according to the biblical …show more content…
Even though Young Earth creationist have more often approached these issues as anti-
evolution or anti- Old- Earth, others have tried to understand the Earth’s history from a different
Young-Earth Perspective.
Comparison of the Viewpoints
Both Young-Earth and the Old-Earth believers, believes that God had supernaturally
produced one of every kind of animal and human being separately and genetically in distinct
forms of life. Both groups agree on the presupposition of evolution and their opposition of
naturalism. They both believe that without naturalistic bias, would lose its credibility. They both
are united in opposition and both reject the theory of common ancestry. Young-Earth and the
Old-Earth both denies that life de¬scended by totally natural processes without supernatural
intervention from the outside. They both oppose that all living things are like a tree that’s
connected to a common trunk and root; rather, they affirm the separate ancestry of all the
