Old Age Bias Study

Improved Essays
The purpose of this study is to find out if younger who are between the ages(13-19) people and older people who are between the ages (20-80) would pick up trash off the ground and who are most likely to dispose of it. The population to be studied is the residents located in Sanford, which is roughly 30000 people. The neutral questions that were being implemented are “Do you think you would pick up trash in certain areas?”. Or “What do you think about picking up trash in Sanford?” According to my hypothesis, I assume that younger people are probably more motivated than older people just by being motivated and being involved in more certain activities and organizations than older people. In this survey, all ages are asked the same questions, Which the population as a whole wasn’t a bias study because there weren't …show more content…
There were 9/50 (18%) people in the younger group (13-19)while the older group (20-80) was 8/50 (16%) and the other half which was not likely to pick trash was 8/50 in the total sample population as well and younger people are more likely to pick up trash in which this correlates to my hypothesis. In conclusion although there only a 2% gap I predicted this by an educated guess and despite the age gap there were no drastic changes to each aspect and each can have its flaws because of reasons of what age group overall perspective. The reason of this study is resonating awareness of recycling trash and raising a clean and healthy environment with my perspective studies and create changes and have a stable environment for all to live in all ages and substantially let everyone know that our group wants to make this a thing that everyone should be able to do that makes a better

This whole situation could’ve been avoided and we would have reliable test results if people in my group would pull their weight, sincere apologies, I’ve done the best I could with my part of the…

Empirical research has examined the relationship between senior demographic characteristics and nutritional intake finding racial and ethnic minorities have decreased rates of consumption of the nutrient rich diets needed as individuals’ age (Deirelein et al., 2014; Ervin & Kennedy-Stephenson, 2002; Storey & Anderson, 2014; Wolf et al., 1996). For example, Deierlein et al. (2014) find Hispanic and Black elderly have the highest intakes of fats, sodium, and added sugars. Additionally, they find elderly individuals who are married have increased rates of consumption of nutrient rich foods. Black non-Hispanic elderly consume the lowest amounts of nutrient-rich foods, with increases in consumption of saturated fats and sodium (Storey & Anderson,…

In this case, this survey was used to point out the differences between students and whether they were normal or outliers within a group of people. As I stated earlier, I believe that the reason most people would fit into the normal category is because the same age group came up with these questions. We all think a like in some way and since were all college students a lot of us do the same things as well. I believe that the process was well generated and the questions were written well. It is just that the questions all reflected the age group.…

Although Gerbner and Gross hired three third-party commercial survey research organizations to minimize biases in how the questioning was conducted (Gerbner, Living). However, additional biases could have potentially included a limited sampling size, a social desirability bias, and/or an acquiescence bias. With the personal nature of the study and the dependence on polling something as abstract as a perspective, there are many variables. With only having three surveys with a total of 2,010 participants, there was a limited sampling size. Based on the questions asked by the questionnaire, it could have also been very easy for participants to fall into the social desirability bias—exaggerating or downplaying their true thoughts or actions to meet the…

The importance of productive selection and recruitment procedures cannot be exaggerated, regardless of the level involved. Inadequate selection and recruitment procedures can result in hiring or promoting personnel who will not or cannot communicate effectively with diverse people, exercise discretion appropriately, or perform the large number of functions required of the police. Even today, questions still exist about whether or not existing pre-employment screening procedures are capable of identifying police candidates who can successfully finish the training academy and perform in an commendable manner on police patrol. Comprehending the need for candidates with these traits, most departments continuously expend considerable money and time in the process. The degree to which such recruitment efforts are successful essentially determines the efficiency and effectiveness of any department.…

According to a recent review in the previous year by Riera and Dilin, “aging is considered to be the biggest risk factor for developing several of the world’s most prevalent chronic diseases” (Riera and Dillin 2015). These aging and age-related diseases include metabolic syndromes, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, and most prevalent forms of cancer (Kennedy, Berger et al. 2014). Typically, there is a high incidence of chronic diseases and co-morbidities in the elderly. More than a quarter of all Americans and two out of every three older Americans have multiple chronic conditions, and disease management for this population accounts for over 60% of the country’s health care budget. Generally, aging is viewed as an overall decline…

The authors of “The Old Grandfather and His Little Grandson” and “Aging Population” have similar purposes for their writing. They are both about what happens to elders as they start to get older, and some of the challenges they face. To start off, in the “The Old Grandfather and His Little Grandson”, it describes what happened to the grandfather when he ate. Bits of food sometimes fell out of his mouth, so his family didn’t let him sit at the kitchen table anymore (The Old Grandfather and His Little Grandson). This shows one of the problems that happened to him as he got older.…

Introduction With the increasing number of minorities in western countries, there has been some debate about whether minorities are concerned about taking care of the environment. Past research has compared minorities with Caucasians to see if there were differing views about the environment and if one group was taking more of an active stance. Research done by Johnson, Bowker and Cordell (2004) used the new ecological paradigm scale (NEP) to measure the variation in environmental beliefs amongst ethnic groups. The scale considered factors such as, environmental reading, household recycling, environmental group joining and participation in nature-based outdoor recreation. Their data showed that Caucasians were the most concerned about the environment.…
