Olaudah Equiano’s The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, tells the story of an eleven year old, young man, who was captured and sold into slavery. Olaudah’s journey from the time he was sold into slavery to the time he found his was to freedom takes place not only at a physical lever, but also at a religious and intellectual level as well. Equiano is a man of conflict, considering his feelings about slavery are complicated, and often perplexed. But conclusively, he decides against slavery and makes a plea for its abolishment. This young man’s views are compiled from his personal experience as a slave, with the influence of class, religion, along with education and understanding of economics at this time period.
