These people, however, do not know what these drugs will do to their body in the short and long term future. Russell was born in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up with his cousins, they all acquired a taste in the style of rap. Together, they formed the rap group Force of the Imperial Master. Later, as they grew more popular, they added more people into their group. When doing so, they re-named their group of nine to the Wu-Tang Clan. This was the beginning to a very long career for the Ol' Dirty Bastard. The Wu-Tang Clan hit the mainstream with their debut album called Enter the Wu-Tang. They again released a new album in 1997 called Wu-Tang Forever, featuring many of the new members. Though successful, Russell Tyrone Jones had ambitions farther than the clan. Therefore, he bounced of his success in the clan and went solo.
His debut album as a solo artist was Return to the 36 Chambers. The album was an instant hit. It made the top 10 of Billboard’s main album charts. Even more, Russell’s two singles in the album “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and “Brooklyn Zoo” were featured. Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s remix of Mariah Carey’s hit “Fantasy” was another success. However, this was only an appetizer to his next song “Ghetto Superstar.” This song reached the top 10 charts for the R&B

Jones collapsed about 4:35 pm on November 13, 2004, just two days before his 36th birthday, at a recording studio. He was pronounced dead at 5:04 pm that day . His funeral was at the Brooklyn's Christian Cultural Center and collected a crowd of thousands. The cause of his death was a drug overdose, and an autopsy found a mixture of cocaine and the prescription drug known as tramadol. The overdose was ruled accidental and many witnesses confirmed this with their responses, saying that he complained of pain in his chest before his dreadful
