GM focused on saving money rather than on quality. As stated earlier employees and management put the blame on each other and no one ever stepped up. Workers did confirm to the obedience and reliance on executives. This, in turn, caused bad performance levels. They were being controlled and needs were not being met. Even though they had job security they relied on the company. There was no motivation seen through none stepping up in GM in the past 11 years. In this industry, most use the collegial model, but GM did not. Within this model there is responsibility, employees feel needed, performance is better, and it breaks up the work to make sure all goals are met quickly and effectively. There are many different organizational models out there and the reason for using them all is every company out there has their own culture (Lowe, 2017) and way of running a business; hence GM took their own track (unfortunately it did not work out). GM is facing a culture crisis because of their actions and the ones they did not take. What I explained above is still what I feel is GM was and is now. GM needs to make actual changes and ones that are actually going to change the culture of the company and not just cover up a crisis. They have caused enough harm and the problem was not solved effectively and efficiently. If GM pushed harder and made more of an effort I could how the company has learned their lesson, but they have not which is why my views from Milestone One have not
