Literary Analysis: character analysis
Cultural differences vary between people. Each person has their own view upon other cultures before even meeting them. They get it from what they’ve experienced. The main characters point of view crashed against someone else and it brought destruction in his life. His low bar on angriness, his aggressiveness, and his strong manhood ; they all played a big part and an example of how cultural differences can impact each individual differently.
Okonkwo like we all know has a strong man personality. Strong man come with multiple packages as to say they are always involved in something somehow. The source to almost everything having to do with the crash of cultural differences is caused by his strong man personality. It was undeniably rough , he most certainly didn't accept it. “Okonkwo had driven him away with the threat that if he came into his compound again” (182/3) You can see that he's definitely not acceptance of the new culture introduced by the white man because he wouldn't even decide to take his own child once he turned into the new religion. “We should have killed the white man if you had listened to me Okonkwo growled” (195/2) Couldn't even stand the idea of new religion.
