Oklahoma’s gay liberation movement did not have a real breakthrough until the 1970’s and 1980’s. First Oklahoma had to organize political groups to fight for gay rights and support. They formed organizations, parades, and also conventions. Next, many would go through the process of legal battles in court. They filed several law suits, seeking freedom of recognition and rights, specifically by groups in college. Many took their cases to court to take the necessary legal steps, instead of using violence. One case was filed against the local police force for harassing the people, and the group won their case.
