Okay For Now is written by Gary D. Schmidt and it is a story about a kid whose dad made him and his family move to Marysville. The main character of the story is Doug Swieteck and he doesn't want to move to Marysville but they have to. His dad named Mr. Swieteck is not a nice dad and he is very abusive just like his brother named Christopher. Also, Doug has a brother who is currently serving in Vietnam. The book has many dynamic characters like Doug, Mr. Swieteck, and Christopher. To sum it up, the book is Okay For Now has many dynamic characters. Doug is a dynamic character in many different ways. First, it says on page thirty-three it says “I hate stupid Marysville”. Then, it says on page 333 it says “I’m pretty happy in Marysville now”. These two quotes show how Doug is a dynamic character because at the beginning of the book he doesn’t enjoy Marysville at all ,but at the end he says he likes it. Finally, Doug is a dynamic character throughout the entire book. Mr. Swieteck is a dynamic character in several ways. To start it off, on page eleven it says “What a stupid thing to give you in the summer...Get in the freaking car”. Next, on page 347 it says “He opened the door...and he came in... My father handed Joe Pepitone’s Jacket to me”. These two quotes show how Doug’s dad was really mean at the beginning ,and then at

The first reason is on page 2 it says “me to decide if I wanted a broken arm or I give him Joe Pepitone’s hat”. Next, on page 212 it says “My brother looked at me again ,and then he reached into the pickup. ‘Tell me if this hurts,’he said, and then he reached an arm around my brother’s neck and he lifted him out, just like that, and set him down in the wheelchair”.
