The United States has been in a recession for quite some time. The rate of unemployment is at an all time high. The United States obtains a majority of our oil from out of country sources. Why are we spending money to buy oil from out of the country, when we could be creating jobs within and helping our fellow Americans? There are a lot of homeless people in the United States, and if we create jobs through oil drilling we can help these people. The jobs that are created will not only be oil rigging jobs, but also if we have more oil we can open more gas stations, restaurants, and many other industries. A perfect example is that the oil and gas industry accounts for 9 million American jobs. Imagine how many more jobs we could create if we opened more oil drilling sites. If there is an expansion in oil, there is expansion in businesses, and that is just what we need as a country. We constantly see on every other source of media how children and adults are suffering in other countries because they are starving and have no shelter. Unfortunately, we are dealing with the same issues here in the states, and could help prevent these issues if we opened more drilling sites within. However, the man that sits in the oval office does everything in his power to make sure that oil drilling in the United States is not possible. In retrospect he should be …show more content…
Many people would say that oil drilling is awful for the environment. However, it has been proven that oil rigs attract a variety of marine life. These aquatic animals use the rigs as their homes, and also for a breeding ground. Also it has been proved that if the United States were to expand their drilling sites in protected areas that are said to be environmentally sensitive, it would help decrease the level in subsurface reservoir pressure. Subsurface reservoir pressure is very important because if this pressure is not kept at low rate it could cause an oil rig to blow up. When the subsurface reservoir pressure is decreased, it helps decrease the hydrocarbon seepage rate as well. If the hydrocarbon seepage rate is reduced, it is not only beneficial to marine life, but also to the people. The reason why it hydrocarbon seepage reduction is beneficial is because it lowers the amount of carbon that leaks into the ocean along with the air we breathe. Also, methane is a natural hazardous element that is released into our environment, and it is said that because of oil drilling it has also reduced the amount of methane being released into are environment. We constantly hear about all the cons of oil drilling, but it is solemn that people ever take the time to see how beneficial oil drilling really can
