Offensive Linemen Case Study

Improved Essays
Let us start with the offensive line. According to walterfootball.com, The top ranked offensive lineman in free agency is Andrew Norwell from the Carolina Panthers. Norwell is only 26 years old and has proved that he is a dominant offensive lineman in the NFL. If he continues to improve his game, we could truly be watching one of football’s top offensive linemen in the future. Also, don't forget that we would be stealing him from a division rival. Other options available this year for potential offensive lineman include Justin Pugh from the New York Giants and Ja’Wuan James from the Miami Dolphins.

The next position I feel the Bucs need to focus on is the defensive line. The top free agent is DeMarcus Lawrence from Dallas. He is 26 years old and is an absolute sack machine. (He had 15 this past season and that includes suspension and injuries.) Lawrence has proven that he can be a run stopper and a huge difference maker in the pass rush. The Buccaneers need to move past guys like Robert Ayers, who is towards the end of his career. The next best options with free agent defensive linemen would be Sheldon Richardson from Seattle and Ezekiel Ansah from Detroit.

Could Malcolm Butler be out in New England? After the Superbowl, Butler had some very harsh words for the Patriots coaching staff. Butler is 28 and made the biggest play of his career in the Superbowl. Other Options include: cornerback E.J. Gaines from Buffalo and cornerback Trumaine Johnson from the L.A.

I would McCoy's days of being a 60 ball catcher are over. He should grab between 35 and 45 balls a year with the Bills. I happen to like shady this year, no coach likes to run the ball more than Rex Ryan. While Fred Jackson isn't going anywhere I would still expect Rex to find his stud…

2017 is an intriguing year for the Redskins for a multitude of reasons. Kirk Cousins now is in the midst of a long-term contract negotiation, his top two wide receivers left via free agency, the Redskins defense is coming off a historically bad season, the new defensive coordinator Greg Manusky along with the team’s new additions is having positive reviews so far this off-season, and the front office is fresh out of a messy divorce with their former general manager Scot McCloughan and made an in-house replacement with Doug Williams under a different title. All this to say, what happens in 2017 is of paramount importance, and can shape the near future of the organization. There are a few Redskins who are worth noting that will be a key cog in determining the outcome of not only the season, but how their future in the nation’s capital.…

Some people think that if Dallas let go of Jason Garrett, we will have a better record next year. Although Dallas does not have a good record I would not put the blame on all of him. When you are a part of a team it is not just one persons fault, everyone has a little bit to blame. Jerry Jones (owner) is thinking about releasing him and replacing him with Sean Peyton. Sean is currently working with the New Orleans Saints.…

The Buccaneers haven’t exactly kept it a secret that they will spend a lot of time this season running a no-huddle, hurry-up offense. Second year quarterback Jameis Winston and the Bucs offense put together their best game of the preseason against the Cleveland Browns when Tampa ran out of the no-huddle every play the starters were on the field. Head coach Dirk Koetter surely couldn’t expect to use the hurry-up approach that much in a regular season game, could he? Winston and the offense have all said they would rather operate out of the no-huddle system.…

The 45th annual BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl features two of college football’s top traditional powers. On New Years Day, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will battle in sunny Glendale, Ariz. Ohio State The Buckeyes saw their College Football Playoff hopes disappear when Michigan State Spartans kicker Michael Geiger hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the Horseshoe on Nov. 21. Despite the fact Urban Meyer's team would no longer hold a top four ranking, the loss to Michigan State may have been the best thing that happened to Ohio State this season. Dealing with adversity is the only way to grow as a team, a notion implied by University of Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh as he once referenced a quote from “The Lion King”: "The past can hurt.…

If they can draft well they can set themselves up for years to come. The majority of the first round picks that the Browns have drafted that are no longer on the team had or serious problems leading up to the draft. For example Johnny Manziel was known to be a excessive partier and alcoholic and they took a chance on him anyway. Brandon Weeden was 28 years old when he was drafted(McManamon, “Browns cut QBs”), to put that into perspective the average age of a NFL draftee is 23.1 years(Stuart). You could go on and on about the problems these guys have had, but what the Browns need to do is simply draft smarter.…

Former QB/WR David Sills left the program to attend a JUCO school in California but in a surprise move made his way back to WVU and looks to have the inside track to start at WR this season with Gibson and Shorts leaving. WVU also added Reggie Roberson and Dominique Maiden to the fold at wide receiver. Roberson has a special skill set that Holgorsen likes in his receivers but Maiden could benefit the most with his size (6'6) especially in the red zone. Again though don't forget that West Virginia will also have electrifying threat Steven Smothers, who redshirted last season. Speaking of electrifying, Tevin Bush is just that when he has the ball in his hands.…
