The new title I chose for the novella “Of Mice and Men” is “Always My Companion.” The meaningful quote I chose is, “With us it ain't like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us.” My new cover relates to my title, and quote and demonstrates the strong relationship George and Lennie had, throughout the novella. I chose the new title “Always My Companion” because it relates to the storyline of the novella “Of Mice and Men.” For example, in the novella the two men, Lennie and George are very close friends, but beyond their friendship, they face many obstacles and hardships. Most of the time, George gets frustrated with Lennie, because Lennie does many things he can't control. Although Lennie made many mistakes and bad decisions, George had always forgave and stuck by him which resembles a true friendship. Another example is, when Lennie said, “An’ why because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you.” They were always partners no matter what, and always supported and stuck by eachother throughout the novella. Another reason I picked the new title is because throughout the whole novella, Lennie always needed a companion, and something to care for. The main thing Lennie always …show more content…

Most ranchmen don't have a partner and someone to look out for them. George and Lennie can't relate, because they both care for each other everyday and they have many things to look forward to. For example, they have a dream and plan, such as having a little place with rabbits, chickens, pigs, etc. Ranchmen have no hope, and know that they will never be able to fulfill dreams that they may have. George and Lennie were very lucky to have each other throughout the novella, and always have someone by their

The exception being Lennie and George which baffles the other characters as to why they are traveling together. John Steinbeck expressed his life through his novels, novellas and poems. For instance, many of Steinbeck’s literary works take place in an area similar to his own home, Salinas Valley, California, an area full of farms, ranches, and orchards (Bloom). Also, California was an area known for attracting farm hands and migrant workers during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl eras because the soil was more nutrient-rich due to its short history of farming (Bloom). This setting transferred over to several of Steinbeck’s works including Of Mice and Men (1937), which is actually set in Salinas Valley. Another example of Steinbeck writing his life into his works is that, as a writer, Steinbeck often struggled financially and was forced to work outside…
