Of Mice and Men how hard life can be for different kinds of people. Of Mice and Men shows how hard “the American Dream” is to achieve, through the lives of George, Lennie, and Curly’s wife. George and Lennie plan to have their own land with rabbits. Lennie makes it hard for George to keep a job, therefore making it harder for George to get money for the land. Curly’s wife could have been a movie star but her mother stopped that from happening. Lennie does another bad thing, messing up George’s job, again. “With us it ain’t like that. We got a future.” (14) George wants to have his own land, where he can grow crops and live in a little house. Lennie wants to live with George and “tend to the rabbits.” “An’ live off the fatta the lan’ … An’ have rabbits.” (14) “An’ it’s be out own, an’ nobody could can us…” (58) George and Lennie are happy that they are going to work for themselves.
