That theme is loneliness. (Steinbeck 22). Loneliness contributes depth to the actions of the characters, and involves emotion as well. A common felt felling is loneliness and if people lack motivation, times become difficult. The theme which directly sums the story is the ability to overcome hardships of loneliness in times of depression. Making sense of this fully requires the understanding of each character’s back story. In the story, there really is not a lot of given information on George and Lennie’s earlier life, but it leaves it to readers to assume and infer. Loneliness is expressed in numerous ways including that time when George was finding trouble getting a job. Everyone in the story was mentioned to have a dream, but a different reality took place. Many people of this story have experienced trials of hardships and challenges limiting their dreams in the future. The continuation of the story greatly depends on loneliness and wealth. Due to the unfortunate significance of poverty, dreams tend to reduce themselves. Loneliness is huge in the story Of Mice and Men, driving the story to a chaotic ending with the death of the character
