Everyone can feel lonely
In John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and men Losing someone in life can make you become lonely. John Steinbeck has pointed this out everywhere in his book. Everyone feels lonely at times, it’s in our human nature. People feel lonely when losing someone in their life or sometimes people just want to be lonely at times. But no one wants to be lonely all of the time.
Candy is a old man who lives in a bunkhouse with a bunch of men, but he keeps to himself mostly. Candy mostly depends on his dog. “ Nother time I met a guy, an’ he was in the pitchers. Went out to the Riverside Dance Palace with him. He says he was gonna put me in the movies. Says I was a natural. Soon’s he got back to Hollywood he was gonna write me about it.” Curley’s wife met a guy before meeting Curley. Curley’s wife wanted to be in the movies and this guy she met said he was gonna put her in the movies. “ I never got that letter,” “ I always thought my ol’ lady stole it.” Pg.88. The guy that told her she was going to be in the movies but he was supposed to go to Hollywood then send her letters but she never got the letter from him. She married Curley because she thought her mom stole her letters. Curleys wife didn’t want to live with someone who steals her things. “I get lonely.” “ You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley. Else he gets mad. How’d you like not to talk to nobody.” Pg. 87. Curley’s wife admits to being lonely to Lennie. Curley’s wife can’t talk to anybody because her husband will get mad but she even admits that she doesn’t like Curley and that he is mean.
