If you were offered a large pizza or a pack of crackers which one would you take? Either way you look at it you’re still getting fed so why be so picky. What if they were the last two things on the shelf same price and a homeless person was standing next. Would you gladfully take the pizza and still feel good about yourself? Or would you settle for the crackers for someone to finally get food in his stomach? Everyone has different views and different ways they were raised, everyone’s perception is different, and that is what the American Dream is, a perception. Looking towards something that genuinely makes you smile. Shouldn’t that be a dream of yours? Coming home and seeing your parents proud or say your grown up and seeing your kids succeeding in school? Everything in life is where you had always wish it would be, your “Pursuit of Happiness” is finally over and you have it. In the book “Of Mice and Men” the two men go on a long journey for them to get a farm of their own but they have to work their way up to it. But George realises that Lennie is holding him back to fulfil his dream, so he has to let him go. He didn’t want to do it but if he kept dragging him alongside he would be of his full potential. Everyone affects everyone in a way is could be a bad effect or a good effect so you can either take it literal or with a grain of sand will you let people help and hurt you. The last president we had, Obama, has finally opened up the world for a big group of people and helping them reach their goal of the American Dream of being “free” by allowing same-sex marriage. But back then all people wanted to do like in “Of Mice and Men” was be white property owners. So it definitely has changed throughout the years.
