After reading O f Mice and Men, I have a very different perspective on Curley’s wife’s attitude and overall atmosphere. I do not think the way she acts is entirely her fault. I consider the possibility that her approach on life is conflicted by her husband and the way he treats her. It is obvious that Curley acts as if his wife is a trophy or something to show off to others. He is extremely possessive of her and cannot stand a man even glancing at his wife. Although she represents the bad side of herself when she is in Crooks’s room by threatening to kill him if he did not respect her and treat her the way she is supposed to be treated as the boss’s son’s wife, she also has a humane side to her.
