George thinks Curley's wife is trouble while she and Lennie discuss their dreams. First of all, George said “I'm staying right here, I don't want to get mixed up in nothing. Lennie and me got to make a stake” (Steinbeck 54). This quote shows that Curley thinks slim is with his wife and wants to find him. George doesn't want to get involved because he doesn't want to get in trouble and lose their jobs. He doesn't want to get fired and lose his chance to complete his dream. Additionally, George said "Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land" (Steinbeck 74). This quote shows that no one could really accomplish their dreams. No matter how hard they tried, their dreams were never accomplished. They always seemed to get ruined. Finally, Curley's wife said “Coulda been in the movies, an’ had nice clothes - all them nice clothes like they wear. An” i could sat in big hotels, an’ it would've cost me a cent because i was in the pitcher” (Steinbeck 89). This quote shows that curley's wife wishes she was in hollywood, acting and making movies. She wishes she had better clothing, things , and a better man. She dreams this because she doesn't like her life as much as she would of liked her hollywood life.
