Bravery is showed by Oedipus by his action to find out who murdered Laius to lift the curse from his city. Before Oedipus knew why the city was cursed Creon was sent by Oedipus to Pythian orachle, Apollo’s shrine at Delphi to figure out what the gods need in order to life the curse from the city. When Creon returned he explained to Oedipus that he must purge for the cause of Laius murder. Laius was the leader of Thebes before Oedipus came to power by solving the riddle of the Sphinx. He begins to play events in his mind that makes him realize that he could actually be the one who murdered Laius. Oedipus seeks out to find the only man who was able to see what happened to Laius and live. In this path he remembers why he ever made it to Thebes. He ran away from him because Apollo told him his future showed him killing his father and marrying his mother. Oedipus tried to avoid this act by running away. Later he finds out his parents who raised him were not his biological parents and he actually did kill his father because Laius was his father, which means his wife was his mother because that was Laius pervious wife. This led to the conclusion that Oedipus was cursed and was the reason for the city of Thebes being doomed. Oedipus was loyal to his city so decided that he needed to banish himself from his home.
