Aristotle’s notion that Comedy makes us less than we are and Tragedy makes us better can be explained simply buy looking more closely at Oedipus Rex. As the play starts out Oedipus is already in trouble his people are dying from a plague, which Apollo the Greek God Of plagues and other things had sent to them. It is found out later that the plague would be lifted if the Person who Killed the Last king was found out and punished. Oedipus was accused for the crime but denied it the whole time. At the end of the story we find out that it was Oedipus him self and that the king and Queen were his parents. So he married and had kids with his mother and killed his father When learning of this Oedipus gauges out his eyes and the Queen kills herself.
